During the fall it was acorns, now it's flowers. Almost everyday this week Ansley has come home with a flower found during our morning outings. It started out as one cup and is now almost in need of a third. I added the plastic bin because she inevitably thinks one of the cups needs more water and pours back and forth between the two.

Logan eating homemade roasted apples. He really just wants to hold the spoon and isn't' so interesting in eating. I think it was the gritty texture that threw him off. I gave him a jar of pear baby food (super smooth/liquidy) the other day and he actually seemed into it.

Solid Food

Saturday, Logan started on Solids. We waited until just before Ansley turned 6 months old too. She wasn't crazy about rice cereal, but I remember squash being a hit. Logan does not feel the same way. I'm not surprised. Even with milk/formula he hasn't been a big eater. This week however, he has begun taking at least 7 ounces (and sometimes 8 or 9) at every feeding. I think it won't be too much longer before we can finally cut out that 10:30 bottle. He had been short of a daily intake of 35 oz some days even with it. I didn't want to cut it out and disrupt his morning wake time of 7:30-8:00. Since Monday though, he's easily hit that and gone over. I think it's interesting that this happened right as we introduced solids. Coincidence or correlation? I guess we'll never know :)

In conclusion, the third time of rice cereal was a success. Logan has tried squash four times now and tolerates the taste. The pears were just a super fail. I tried making my own, which was not only more expensive, but they were also a little sour. I ended up putting the rest of the puree in Ansley's oatmeal. Apples are next. I'm excited about this new stage. Oddly enough I really enjoy making baby food.

I signed Ans up for an airport field trip with Alachua County Moms Monday. I love being able to go to stuff like this. Ansley thought it was so much fun. She really enjoyed pretending to fly the plane and wanted to sit in it multiple times.

The candles were supposed to be like sparklers. They didn't. Instead, they acted more like trick candles which amused Ans.

No more crib

Sunday, after almost 2 weeks of not napping, we decided to take down one of the sides on Ansley's crib. Our hope was that it would completely throw her out of this non-napping routine she'd gotten into. It has seemed to work too! She did open and shut the door while playing in her room for the very first nap. It lasted for about an hour. We ignored it and she eventually fell asleep. Nighttime had no issues. Monday she went out like a light and I even had to wake her after 2 hours so we wouldn't miss our airport field trip. That night also had no issues. Nap time today seems to be going smoothly as well. Hopefully it keeps up!

I can't believe it's been almost half a year since this little guy came along. His personality comes out more and more each week. He laughs daily now and screeches loudly while on his changing table. He was very happy for these pictures.

He gets super busy hands when sleepy or eating. Its cute, but makes it hard to feed him. Also, look at that hair! It's not really thick or anything, but is three times the amount that Ansley had at this point.

I've been trying to let Logan nap in his crib more and it's been soo cold, so we've been getting out a little later in the day. The park was practically empty Thursday.

Even though Ans looks a little grumpy above she's not. She was "waiting for daddy." Sad because daddy was at work and not meeting us. I decided we should do some exploring (which we've never done before) and Ansley thought this was a great idea. We walked over to the empty baseball fields. I think this was the first time she's ever been on one. I remember loving the feeling of running through the empty outfield as a kid. I guess she does too :)

After running the bases we checked out the scorekeeper's box, bleachers, empty pool, skateboard ramps and then over to the racket ball/tennis courts. She wasn't too sure about going inside the racket ball area until I showed her it echoed.

Ans and I set up the hammock the other morning. She really enjoyed sitting in there and pushing daddy while he relaxed inside. We will definitely have to put it up more often! It was pretty chilly out and she insisted on wearing her new rain boots.

We spent Christmas this year in south Florida at Granny's house. Ansley wasn't sure what to make of the presents for everyone under the tree at first.

And..... This little boy rolled over from tummy to back yesterday! It was out of the blue. I don't think he's even really attempted until yesterday when it happened. The picture was from shortly after. As you can tell he's unimpressed with the milestone achievement.

Ans originally didn't want anything to do with this, so I took some pictures of Logan on our bed. By the time she was in the mood, he wasn't. I ended up putting him for a nap and tried to get a few of her alone. By then she was over it too.

I eventually gave up and just let Ans play in the sand box. We tried adding some water so she could build sandcastles. Thank goodness this activity was a hit!

Logan gained another 7 ounces this week from his 17.5 week weigh in. At his 4 month check up Monday he was 12lbs 3oz and 24.5in. This bumped him up from being between the 3rd & 5th percentiles to between the 5th & 10th. Progress... yeay!

16 Weeks & Thanksgiving

Logan turned 16 weeks old on Thanksgiving. He had a check-up the Monday before at 15.5 weeks and weighed 11 pounds 6 ounces. Not a great improvement, but it had only been a few days on the reflux medicine. Since then he's pooped everyday. He'd previously been going only once a week or so. I know no one else cares about this, but I like to record the details for myself :) He has also been eating A LOT. This is great for weight gain, but no so great for nursing. I've had to start supplementing, pumping and taking fenugreek again. I weighed him two days ago at 16.5 weeks and he was 11 pounds 12 ounces. A 6 ounce gain in a week, fantastic considering that last month he only gained 10 ounces total. However, it's an average amount and just keeps him at the 5th percentile instead of bumping back up (or worse, dropping even lower).

First Thanksgiving. Of course, I didn't take a shot of all four of us. Someone please remind me to do this at every holiday! I'm mostly upset because I actually did my hair and put on make-up which doesn't happen very often these days :)

This uncooperative little girl did not want me to take her picture (Can you tell?). She had a super cute turkey bow she refused to wear. And, it took all of us to convince her to wear this outfit. Ans has a mind of her own, that's for sure!

At the end of the day, all tuckered out. Notice the new outfit. Logan leaks out of his disposable diapers every. single. time. he poops. Now that he's going everyday it's getting a little ridiculous. We use size 2 Pampers Swaddlers, but they are obviously not working for him. Anyone have any suggestions?

It's been an eventful week of life for this little guy. We finally got him on some reflux meds and he is a new baby during feedings. No more screaming while eating and he's nursing for at least 20 minutes at a time instead of 10 minutes or less. Because his eating time cut by half over the last month or so he has also dropped a bunch of growth percentiles. In the last month he only gained 10 ounces and weighs 11 pounds 4 ounces (5th%ile!!! Poor little guy). It's all sorted out now, so hopefully he can catch back up quickly. Other milestones are that he has started doing this cute little thing where he sticks out his tongue. He sucks on his hands all the time and still (like his sister at this point) has no interest in rolling over. He sure is cute though :)

Landon LOVED Logan. It looked like he wanted to eat him :) He is so smiley and cute. Logan still isn't sure about his new cousin. Once they get a little older though I bet they'll be friends in no time.

We tried unsuccessfully to take a group picture. Ans refused to stand up and be photographed, while Logan screamed (it's hard to tell, but he is). It was right before we were about to head back home and I think the lack of schedule was beginning to show.

Ans perked back up on our way out to the car. Maybe it was the yellow hat.

Loggerhead Marinelife Center

Saturday we took the kids to Loggerhead Park to see the turtle rehab center and play on the playground. It is SO much nicer than the last time I was there.

Afterwards we had Chickfila at the mall. Ansley was really excited about the fountains, but not the glass elevator it took to get down to them :)

Gator Homecoming Downtown

I wish I would've taken a few pictures with the real camera since my phone isn't the greatest. Oh well. Here's Logan dressed for the homecoming weekend.

He looked so snugly for our trip to the downtown homecoming event.

There was a huge area for the kids to color on the street with chalk. Ansley put the two lines through the "S" of her name all on her own. Maybe we've been watching a little too much MTV in the morning... I hope she doesn't start insisting on being called Ans Money or writing it this way all the time like Ke$ha.

Ans looked so cute. One of the local TV stations asked if they could film her in action. She didn't even seem to notice. I wish I knew if she made it on air or not.

More coloring. Now, one of the reasons I wish I had my real camera is you can't see her leggings here. They were white, but after sitting on the chalky brick they looked tie dyed. At least they're the right color for bleaching!

We've had a little problem the last few weeks with Ansley not taking naps. She talks, jumps and plays instead of going to sleep. After a while of listening to it, I normally go in and try to settle things down. The other day I walked in to find her entire outfit on the floor. Luckily, she didn't wet (or worse!) her bed while in the buff... not so luckily, she's done this a few more times since that day and odds are it's only a matter of time.

This post is one of those where I ask Jon's opinion about which pictures to post and he tells me they all look the same. I guess I'm just biased, but it's hard for me to pick which tiny change in expression is cuter than another. Things I want to remember: He has such fuzzy hair right now. It seems to stand up on end more when he's cold or upset. I thought his eyes were turning brown, but now they seem greenish brown. Maybe they'll be hazel-y like Ansley's too, just more brown than blue. On his 12 week birthday he woke up happy and talking to his caterpillar for the first time. He's done it a few more times since then. Still no obvious laughs, but he sure does smile and "talk" a lot. And finally, he doesn't seem to cry anymore when Ans is in his space.

Halloween

Halloween morning we went to a MOPS party where Ans ate some snacks, made some footprint ghosts and colored a pumpkin.

After naps we met up with Natalie and Aubrey for some pre-dinner trick or treating at the mall and then Chick-fila.

Once dinner was over we headed to Katherine's (Ansley & Aubrey's friend) neighborhood for some real trick-or-treating. This was Ansley's first time going around to houses.

Unfortunately, the very first home we went up to was super decorated with giant blow-up scary stuff and noise machines. Ans was completely freaked out and spent pretty much the entire rest of the night saying, "I want to go bye bye." Our little family portrait was right after we passed the "scary" house. You can see she's still talking about it.

This was the first house we were able to convince her to go up to because it didn't have any decorations. You can tell by her face that she still wasn't happy about it.

Logan slept through most of the trip and woke up right towards the end. I had a little fleece monster costume for him, but it was kind of warm and seemed too hot. He looked cute in his Halloween onesie anyway.

Spooky Sticker Exchange

I took Ans to a Spooky Sticker Exchange on Friday. She looked very festive in her Halloween shirt.

Logan was also dressed for the event, but slept in the stroller. Here he is before we left the house.

Greeks, Goblins and Ghouls

We went to the Greeks, Goblins and Ghouls trick or treating down sorority row event last Thursday. Unfortunately, Jon had his district swim meet on the same night so he couldn't come. Having one parent per kid would have definitely made the whole trip more enjoyable, but we can try again next year. I attempted a lazy costume for Logan, but the hat didn't even make it out of the house.

Ansley decided she would wear her old bunny costume. I was glad because I knew she would inevitably get her cheerleader costume for this year dirty if she wore it.

She was a very cute bunny, but like Logan's hat, her ears were off before we even got out the door. Without the ears people thought she was a ballerina at first.

Once we got there, Ansley was a little freaked out by the whole thing. However, she soon became comfortable when the first house of girls said the words "play, game and candy". That's Kennon in the spiderman costume.

Busy Bees Halloween fun!

Ans had her Busy Bees Halloween play date last week. Here are the goodies we brought for treating from the moms and a book for story time.

I found these super cute free printables HERE. I had to reduce the size to 50% to get them to fit the granola bars, just fyi.

Ans wore her flower fairy costume from last year. We were going to play at a park and I didn't want this year's outfit to get all gross before the big day. Look at the difference between last year (here and here) and this. A year ago she was still a baby, now she's a little girl.

One of the first times she's asked to hold him in over a month. I was glad Logan was happy about it. He even smiled and coo-ed. He's started crying sometimes when Ansley is too close because he knows he's about to get poked, laid on or bumped. She just can't help but be in his space. She loves him so much :)

My dad emailed me some pictures they took from their visit last Saturday. We had a picnic at the park. Ans is really into "hanging" at the moment.

This one is my favorite! Ansley was trying to copy Pop. She is "hanging upside down" even though she's just tilting her head back. So cute :)

Ansley was so enamored with the little play houses the first time we went to the pumpkin patch she didn't get to jump in the bounce house. I told her we could go back later in the week to bounce and get Logan a tiny pumpkin. This was after her nap on Monday.

Butterfly Fest

It was an exciting weekend. We had Pop and Gramarie here Saturday and then Nana and Grandpa Sunday. We also tried out the Florida Museum of Natural History's Butterfly Fest. It was a hit with Ansley, definitely something we need to go to every year. Here she is at Toad Town. Although it looks like she wants to touch them, she chickened out when Nana held one close enough so she could.

Ansley especially loved the bat people. They had a live fruit bat to look at. She kept calling it Stellaluna (Her real name was Violet). She was excited about the temporary butterfly tattoo she got and refused to sample the honey at the bee tent. Here she is sitting on her favorite bench at them museum. She sits on it every time we go.

Ansley's new obsession is Dora the Explorer. She happened to see an episode one morning. Now, she asks to watch it ALL the time. It's gotten so bad I've had to ban the TV entirely to keep her from thinking about the show. This video was taken the day she face planted onto the asphalt at the park.

Logan has become quite fond of the giraffe on the play mat :)

2 Months Old

These pictures are all from 11 days ago when Logan officially turned 2 months. He didn't have his check-up until yesterday, so I held off on posting to include his measurements.

Logan loves loves loves his swing and takes many naps there during the day. He is becoming so smiley and talks up a storm when awake. Yesterday, he got 3 shots at his appointment. Like Ansley, he has super skinny legs at this age. The nurses, after seeing the lack of meat on his tiny thighs, considered switching the needles out for smaller ones! Poor little guy. He of course cried, but only for a minute. Here are his 2 month stats:

Height: 24 in (70th %ile-ish)

Weight: 10 lbs 10 oz (30th %ile-ish)

This happy little guy slept through the night for the first time. I woke him up to eat at 10:45 and he made it all the way till 7:30 this morning. Yay! Of course, Ans woke up at 7 which is earlier than normal, but that's still the longest sleep stretch I've had in over 2 months. Here he is before bed last night...

... And then this morning. Notice the outfit change. He peed on his PJs during a diaper change. The funny thing about yesterday is he normally eats 7 times in 24 hours, but only ate 5. It makes sense that he would've dropped down to 6 since he didn't wake to eat in the middle of the night. However, it was almost like he dropped 2 because he went longer between feedings all day for some reason. Regardless of the number, he must have eaten a lot. He's only been pooping every few days, but yesterday went twice (and they were big!). Speaking of BMs, Ansley pooped on the potty for the first time Tuesday! It was very exciting :) It hasn't happened since, but she still enjoys trying.

Earlier in the week Logan was having some daddy time after Ansley went to bed. He smiles and talks when he recognizes your face. There were a few weeks in there where he seemed not as content, but I think all that has passed. He is such a sweet baby!

Last week Ansley got a pretty substantial scrape on her forehead. She was climbing over a curb and fell face first onto the asphalt. Sad :(
