39 Weeks

My final prenatal appointment was on Friday. Now, I'll either see the doctor again at the c-section or if I happen to go into labor before. My blood pressure was normal (112/66) and I gained half a pound (28 overall). Nothing else has seemed to change. Get excited, because my next pregnancy related post will be about the little guy's arrival!

Here's what Ansley has been doing this morning. Getting herself ready for her baby brother :)

Nursery Update

Finally got some stuff up on the walls in the little boy's room. There are still a few things we need to do, but this is probably as put together as it's going to get before he gets here.

Garbage Truck

Ansley is taking after her Uncle Nick and loves watching the garbage trucks pick up our trash every week. She stands by the window and says, "Thank you trash can." It's her version of "thank you for picking up our trash". She also says garbage truck whenever we see one driving around and tells them thank you too... sometimes accompanied by "kisses" :)

Nursery Crafts

ABC canvas from one of my showers. I'm so excited to hang this up!

Pinwheel mobile almost done. I need to add one more string in the center.

I'd originally planned on hanging this above the changing table. It sold last week in my etsy store and I'm too lazy to paint another one right now.

The paper airplanes were part of a craft from one of my showers and the pinwheels were leftovers from the mobile project.

Completed changing pad cover. It looks and feels so cozy!

Not exactly for the nursery, but I made these thank you note cards for the WPB shower. Our family as it is right now (well, except for Allie).

38 Weeks

I am now officially pregnant longer than I was with Ansley. Last time around I never felt "done" with being pregnant. Maybe it's going past I where I did previously, chasing after a 2 year old while pregnant or just knowing that the longer I go, the less time Jon will have before school starts, but I'm feeling ready. Not that anyone cares, but I also thought I got my first stretch mark this morning, so that's not helping the feeling. At my appointment Friday we scheduled the repeat c-section for a few days before my due date. If I happen to go into labor early, all the doctors (all 5!) I've met with are 100% for me attempting a VBAC. It makes me a little nervous though. I met with yet another new doctor during this visit and liked her a lot. Plus, she's actually a doctor and not a resident. I'm scheduled to see her again and hopefully can stay in her rotation for all my postpartum follow-ups. I didn't gain any weight in the last week (still 27.5 overall), but my blood pressure was a little higher than normal (125/85). The nurse taking it seemed really rushed during all my vitals and I found out later that she's new. I mentioned the rise to the doctor, which she'd also noticed, but wasn't concerned. When I got home I took it myself and it was 109/74, so I'm not worried. No excessive swelling, weight gain or protein in my urine which means it was probably just a mistake. I had my cervix checked for the first time (1-2 cm dilated and beginning to thin out) and the little guy seemed to be head down. I felt more confident in their determination of his position because she said she felt suture lines on his skull. My doctor with Ansley was not only wrong (Ansley was breech), but told me she felt a lot of hair! Look back at my poor little girl during the first year of her life. She was bald, bald, bald :) I'm still having lots of braxton-hicks and more overall crampiness (I'm hoping that's more dilating and softening), but no real or consistent contractions. Today we finally installed little boy's car seat and his room is probably as good as it's gonna get at the moment. Less than 2 weeks to go!

Ansley's Room

Ansley's new set up. We finally moved the changing table out, which was a little sad. She still wears diapers, but is too long. Plus, we need it in her brother's room. It's been a little bit of an adjustment to figure out a new routine for diapering and outfit changes. The floor seems like the best option, but crouching down and getting up with this belly isn't easy. It's going to be even more difficult if I end up needing another c-section. She may be moving her routine to the nursery or mommy and daddy's bed for a while :)

I have plans to move those flower pegs in the first picture down so she can hang things on them herself and to paint the brown wood bench. I've also wanted to put up some sheer curtains for a while now since the windows look a little bare. She got new sheets from Nana and Grandpa for her birthday. Once we convert the crib to a toddler bed I think I'll get her a pillow and put the matching comforter on. The last thing that's been in the back of my mind is to paint the lower rectangles on the closet doors with a colored chalkboard paint (pink maybe?). The doors are metal so she could put magnets and a little chalk holder there to used while playing in her room. I guess it's always a work in progress!

2 Years

Ansley had her 2 year check up Thursday. Unfortunately she screamed through the whole thing. If you ask her about the appointment though all she seems to remember are the toys in the waiting room. She weighs 27.5 pounds (60%) and is 34.5 inches tall (75%).

2 year stats comparison:
7/17/09: 6.10 lbs -50th / 20 in -55th
7/17/10: 20.10 lbs -50th / 29.74 in -65th
7/17/11: 27.5 lbs -60th / 34.5 in -75th

Jon Allen

When Ansley wants to get up in the morning or from a nap, and we don't respond right away, she has started calling out Jon's first name instead of "daddy". I guess she learned it from me calling to him from across the house. The other day she heard Jon leaving someone a message and at the end he said "Jon Allen". She picked up on it immediately and even knows that her last name is Allen now. She still won't call me Amanda. Instead, she says "Mommy Allen" even though we've gone over it a bunch :)

Fish Tank

We decided to wait until after Ansley's party ended to give her our present. Can you guess what it was? A fish tank :) She was excited, but I think a little unsure since there was no water or fish inside yet.

Once we filled it with water I think she began to understand what was going on. We told her she could pick out fish to put inside. Of course she said she wanted orange ones because every time we go to the pet store she kisses the bottom tanks full of feeder fish, which are orange.

She absolutely loves it!

37 Weeks

Saturday hit the 37 week mark. Gained another 2 pounds (27.5 overall) and blood pressure still looked good (109/72), although all the books say it will be slightly higher than it has been earlier in the pregnancy. I'm having braxton hicks like crazy, so he must be getting ready to make his arrival in the next few weeks. Still no definite name choice. I'm not sure how this next appointment is going to go. I'm seeing yet another new resident and need to get my c-section scheduled just in case he doesn't come before the due date. Keep your finger crossed that it's an easy process. This doctor's office has not been very organized so far :)

Cute Cousins

Ans and Noah had a lot of fun together this weekend. They are finally able to play with one another and get along so well! They especially loved dancing to "Friday", carrying around plates from the play kitchen (Ansley had cheese and Noah had a pizza, though he turned it upside down and called it a pancake) and pushing the car/scooter toys with little people inside (You can see them next to Noah in the video).

Ansley hanging by herself for the first time :) I think having Noah there helped her break out of only doing the swing and slide.

Ansley's 2nd Birthday!

Saturday we had a little party for Ansley's 2nd birthday. Ansley had a lot of fun. Leading up to the big day, we practiced asking her how old she'd be, blowing out a candle and singing "Happy Birthday".

My little Ansley drawing from her invitation

The bubble blower had to be the biggest hit of the party. The kids went crazy, running around and chasing all the bubbles.

Finn kept asking Ansley when she was going to open her presents. It was very cute:)

My mom had a bunch of leftover blow-up balls that we tossed in the backyard. They were also some easy entertainment that the kids seemed excited about.

Ansley wasn't very interested in opening her presents once she got some books. The other kids were actually opening them for her and then handing the gifts over to show what was inside!

Beginning to look a little tired

She blew out the candle on the first try. Good thing we practiced!

For weeks, when we'd talk about the party, Ansley would say, "Ice cream, cake, hold it, little spoon?" She wanted to use one of the little sample spoons we normally give her for ice cream when we go to Sweet Dreams. Earlier in the week Jon made sure to bring one home. A few days before the party she started saying little spoon and big spoon, so we gave her both. It's hard to see in the picture, but she's actually holding and using the "little spoon".

It was a really fun day! Once just our family was left at the house Ansley continued to sing Happy Birthday over and over. At the end of the song (well, when we can get her to end it... most of the time it's just a continuous loop) she always does a little puff to "blow candles".
