Tootling Around

video

Ansley is still cautious of walking on her own. Every once in a while though, she surprises us by just getting up and shuffling around.

Swing!

Finally! She likes the swing again... for a few minutes anyway :)

Possum Creek

Jon wasn't feeling well Saturday morning, so Ans and I scoped out a newly renovated park not too far from our house. I heard there is an off leash dog area and wanted to check it out before carting the dog and baby all the way out there. Ans had a really good time, made friends with a 6 year old little girl and even tolerated the swing!

Big Tree

Yesterday afternoon we decided to get out of the house. Jon had the idea to go to this park we'd visited back in college. It's nothing exciting, just a big field with a big tree, but Ansley loves trees and it's on our side of town, so we went for it.

When Ansley gets a little older it will be a great place to go for a picnic and run around. For now, we just practiced some more walking :)

Feeling a little better...

As you can see, she's feeling better. Not 100% yet, but better :)

Oh, and look what I found this morning in the laundry room...

I closed the lid, pulled the container into the back yard, tipped it over and out he ran. Luckily, Allie is almost out of food so there wasn't too much wasted.

Why I can't wait for the weekend...

I haven't posted in a few days because Saturday night Jon started running a fever, Sunday he was full out sick and Monday went to the doctor... Strep. 24 hours of antibiotics later and he was feeling much better. Of course, Tuesday Ansley started acting not 100%. I brought her to the doctor, she started on the pink bubble gum meds and I hoped by some miracle Jon's open house that night would be canceled (it wasn't). Yesterday morning she wasn't any better, even after 2 doses of antibiotics. Another day of staying in, Jon getting home later than normal (swim meet) and last night it seemed she was even a little worse (that's when the picture was taken). I guess the one good thing is I haven't caught it yet. Whether it's my lack of tonsils or built up antibodies from my brother having strep a lot as a kid, all I know is it would have been really interesting around here if all 3 of us were sick at them same time. We'll have to see how today goes with Ansley. I may be calling the doctor again...

Ichetucknee Springs

Jon's swim team went tubing yesterday afternoon. We tagged along and it was, for the most part, a really good time. I'm not sure if I would take a 14 month old tubing again... Ansley had a few melt downs in the raft... but, when she wasn't crying it was pretty relaxing. Luckily one of the dads took some pictures for the team website. There's no way I could have wrangled Ansley, the stuff and a camera in the tube :o)

Bedtime Story

This scene makes me really happy :)

Matchy-Matchy

Ansley and Aubrey went to a play group at the pool today. The girls were very embarrassed to see that they wore the same outfit (Oddly enough, Natalie and I were almost dressed the same too!). Ans mostly enjoyed sitting on the steps and splashing. She's still uneasy in the deeper parts of the pool, especially if you pull her away from your body. We also went to Little One's Lap Time at the library yesterday and had SO much fun. I made a calendar of all the free (or almost free) stuff to do around town with kids for the month. I'm excited to try out some of the other activities.

Shoes

Now that Ansley is officially a walker, I have to make sure she wears shoes. I tried them at last week's swim meet, but she wasn't thrilled. This week, she wore them without any fuss. We even walked over to the playground and she got to roam around like a big kid (Although she was mainly interested in the mulch chips). I'm not sure why, but she's still terrified of swings. Remember these happy pics. At home, if I even walk near the outdoor swing, her little fingers dig into me for dear life. Silly girl, swings are fun!

Not Afraid

Before today Ansley was absolutely terrified of her walking toys. They seemed to move too fast and not be sturdy enough for her liking. Not anymore. I have a feeling she's going to push this thing around ALL day tomorrow. She actually cried when we made her stop to take a bath. She took 11 steps all on her own from the middle of the living room to the coffee table (without the walker and of course not on film). Also, is that a car noise? She makes it almost every time...

First Steps

Yesterday, I watched a 6 month old (the reason why the swing is back out). I think Ans was a little jealous because she'd come over to the me and the baby, stand up all on her own, throw her hands in the air and laugh. Probably 5 or 6 times. She's been physically able to stand and walk for a while, but wouldn't. I guess wanting attention from mommy was enough to get her over the apprehension. This morning she decided to go a little further and took a few steps. She'll be tootling around in no time :)

Weekend Links

(pictures are shown in link order)

Some things I found this week that are worth checking out...

The Princess & The Frog- A ridiculously creative mom... I'll be adding this to the side bar
Mila's Day Dreams- What one mom imagines her baby girl dreaming about
TomKat Studio- Super cute inspiration for planning kid parties
PacingthePanicRoom- Love this sandbox and want to make one for Ans (although she'd probably just eat the sand)
CedarWorks Play Sets- I need to become friends with whoever is buying these for their backyards

Mini Chair

Ansley's birthday chair from her Great Grandpop finally came yesterday after being on backorder for almost two months. She loves it so much! (Sorry the pictures aren't very good. I had to use my phone's camera)
